great idea, works best with goggles
I have been riding with an open face and goggles for nearly 20 years, mainly because of the field of vision and goggles don't fog up. Over the past few years, I've noticed more people going to modular helmets and I like the idea of being able to lift up the chin guard to get a drink of water without having to take off the whole helmet. When I saw this helmet I thought it would be the best of both worlds. Modular helmet when doing a family ride and open face with goggles when riding with the "gang". Unfortunately when riding in the modular mode, the shield fogs up and I ended up riding with the shield cracked open to let in enough fresh air. It was a warmer day, so the cold was not an issue. I'll probably keep the helmet and remove the shield permanently and just use it as an open face motocross style with goggles.

Awesome
So far I love the helmet. I rated it a perfect fit however I should make a note that my head is at the smaller end of the large scale. It fits my head perfectly. Seriously it is the most comfortable helmet I’ve ever worn. The only thing that bothered me as far as the feel of the helmet on my head was the way the breath box sat on my nose the first time I wore it. But it’s either starting to form to my face or I’m getting used to it. This is the first helmet I’ve owned to have a breath box, so I can’t speak with a comparison. It is getting more comfortable.

Make sure you open the vent in the breath box as well as on the helmet!!! The first time I wore it I was furious with how much it fogged up. When I got home I was ready to send it back. I was putting it back in the box when I saw the paper that instructed you to do this. I’ve ridden twice since opening that inside vent and fogging is minimal. The only time I really fogged up at all was when I was riding through a few miles of mogals, standing up on my sled and working pretty hard. However I flipped the shield up and road with the sun visor down. The visor protected my face and eyes well enough and once I got to a smoother area I put the shield back down and had no further issues. If I were planning on spending a large portion of my day riding hard I may consider switching to goggles.

The yellow/amber sun visor is outstanding. Riding into the sun at sun down I wished I had something darker obviously, but that has been a very small portion of my time out and the trade off for how well it brings out the contrast in the snow is well worth it. I’ll probably throw on a pair of sun glasses Next time I’m in that situation.

The reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the breath box on the nose which I explained earlier, but also the ventilation. There are 2 intake vents. One on the mouth and one on top of the forehead. There is an exit vent at the rear of the helmet and it works well with the top intake vent keeping my head cool. However to keep the shield From fogging you need to keep the mouth vent fully open. There is no exit vent for the mouth intake so the air flows out the bottom rear of the helmet. This shoots cold air strait down the the back of my neck and into the back collar of my jacket. This is pretty minor and doesn’t really take away from the comfort of the helmet. Just something to think about.

Overall I would absolutely recommend this helmet. My boss tried it on when I got it and told me the next day he had ordered the black and grey version that night. I suggest reading other reviews about sizing. I did a lot of research on this helmet (and the Scorpion version ‘EXO-AT 950 which is basically the same helmet) before ordering and a lot of people were saying it was really tight.
