Motorcycle Cables, Clamps & Parts
Every bike has motorcycle cables to operate the throttle. And though, they are necessary for operating the bike, they are often neglected to be serviced. This is mainly because they can last a very long time without being lubed. But they can begin to stick aft a while and even become inoperable and need to be replaced. Also, the vinyl coated cables can crack, allowing the oil to escape and moisture and debris to get in. You can choose to replace the cables with pre-fit vinyl or braided cables or build your own with cable building kits and components. For some extreme custom jobs, you may need to create your own.Braided motorcycle cables offer the best durability and a more custom look compared to vinyl. The braided cables are less prone to being damaged because they are made with a much more durable material. They also provide a much smoother pull when you use the throttle or clutch. And of course, they offer a more custom look compared to the plain black cables. Braided cables are offered in a variety of finishes that will look good on any bike.
You also need to consider replacing your motorcycle cables when you change the style of handlebars on your bike. Handlebars with different heights may require longer or shorter cables, depending on the style of bars being used compared to what is being replaced. To make things easier, there are many kits available to match the lengths required for different bar types, like ape hangers. You can also build your own cables if you cannot find what you need. Be sure to check out our guide on how to measure motorcycle cables so that you know the exact ones that you need.
