Riding without the proper protective gear dramatically increases your chances of injury and death in the event of an accident. Here is a quick rundown of safety gear you should wear while riding:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Motorcycle Helmets\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/helmets\">Helmet<\/a>: <\/strong> This is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can wear. Only use helmets that are manufactured specifically for motorcycle use. These helmets are designed not only to protect from abrasion, but also to absorb shock, and keep the helmet fitting snugly while staying on your head. Accidents are often caused because wind and debris will get in the eyes while riding. The safest way to protect your eyes, face, and head is by using a <a title=\"Full Face Helmets\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/full-face-helmets\">full face helmet<\/a>. But face shields or <a title=\"Goggles\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/goggles\">goggles<\/a> are another option that will help keep your eyes safe. Eyeglasses and sunglasses are not good forms of eye protection because they are more likely to break or fall off.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Motorcycle Jackets\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/jackets\">Jackets<\/a> and <a title=\"Chaps, Pants, Bibs, &amp; Shorts\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/pants\">Pants<\/a>:<\/strong> When designed for riding, rather than everyday use, jackets and pants can help protect your skin from abrasion and absorb shock in the event of a crash. They also help protect from everyday irritants like windburn, sun burn, and adverse weather conditions. Make sure your riding clothing is made of protective fabric such as leather, ballistic nylon, or Kevlar. You also need to make sure that there is some type of reflective material on the clothing for better visibility. The fit is also important. Make sure the collar fits closely, the cuffs are snug, and the waist is fitted. Loose fitting clothing and other loose items can get caught up in your bike. Think all of this sounds too hot for a warm day? A lot of manufacturers are now making light weight protective gear.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Motorcycle Gloves\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/gloves\">Gloves<\/a>:<\/strong> These also need to be made out of protective materials to protect your hands from wind, weather, blisters, and abrasion. Makes sure that they fit your hands and you can still grip your handlebars firmly. If they are too loose your grip can slip. If they are too tight they can cut off circulation, affecting your ability to operate your motorcycle. These are also made for both cold and warm weather.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Motorcycle Boots\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denniskirk.com\/motorcycle\/boots\">Boots<\/a>:<\/strong> It is important to have boots that are tough and cover your ankles. These can protect you from getting burnt by exhaust pipes. They can also protect your feet from debris on the roads.
