But what about Living Room Builders. Drew Rettinger of Bosman, Montana is of the latter. The stunning Panhead chopper that he brought to our Sturgis Garage Build show was assembled in his living room during the winter months. His build embodies the spirit of what we try to capture at these shows. This is my Garage Build. It&#8217;s actually not a garage build. it&#8217;s actually a living room build. It was built two winters ago in my living room and it started out as a donor bike. The motor and all its heart was out of a Panhead and a Swinger frame. And then I picked up the frame, the front end, and all an assorted amount of twisted parts and goodies. And I put it together in my living room with a bunch of new parts. The motor was restored. It hadn&#8217;t been apart since the&#8217; 70s. All rebuilt. New rocker boxes for my 50<sup>th<\/sup> birthday. \u00a0This bike is a tribute to myself on my 50th birthday. So, I did a 50 Panhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This bike&#8217;s got no front brake and a foot clutch suicide shifter. So, I shift with my hand and clutch foot but I run my back brake on my handlebars so I can put my foot down while holding the clutch so that I can stop and put my foot down. That&#8217;s probably the coolest feature. So, I can ride it and shift and stop safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This winter I had to redo a few things. A lot of parts didn&#8217;t make it through the summer. Everything&#8217;s running really good so much this week. Few parts have broke but all can get fixed. it&#8217;s the beauty of the chopper. You got to be able to fix it when you&#8217;re riding. It takes constant attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;d like to thank Dennis Kirk for having us Joe guys out here that have normal jobs. I&#8217;m a roofing contractor in Montana and this is my hobby. So that fuels my fires when the winter months are long and you got to, you got to still love it.
