Beware of Unsafe Motorcycle Helmets

Recently, a batch of motorcycle helmets was seized in Peterborough, England because they were potentially lethal in the event of an impact.  The original story on the seizure of these helmets can be found here.  In the article, the Principal Trading Standards officer who tested the safety of the helmets is quoted saying, “This would give a rider almost no protection in a crash, increasing the chance of brain injury or death.  You may as well not wear a helmet, they are that dangerous.” The helmets that were seized are very cheaply made and you can tell from the photo that an impact could cause serious damage.  The motorcycle helmets that were seized are the Jiekai helmet models JK 100 and JK1000.
