Bob’s Garage Build: The Seat

(This is the fourth article in a series detailing the Garage Build project of Bob, the President & CEO of Dennis Kirk. Catch up on the project by reading the first post, second post, and third post.)

I knew right up front that I wanted to build a solo bobber. I went to Dennis Kirk’s Garage Build website to see what other people were doing. I found 25 bobbers posted on garagebuild.com (Check them out for yourself).

Spring bobber seats seem to be a thing right now, and I think they are cool, so I decided to go with that style. My first stop was denniskirk.com where I found 65 different seats that are specifically made for a 2009 Sportster 883C.

Although there were many nice spring solo seats listed, none of them really stood out to me. I wanted something more unique and eye-catching. So, I started looking other places for a seat that moved me.

After extensive searching online, I ultimately concluded that a custom hand-tooled seat design would work best on the project bike. With that focus in mind, I started thrashing around the internet and finally came upon a very unique and eye-catching seat.

It struck me as perfect for the project bike; however, there was a hitch. It was crafted by a man named Bodzi, who lives in the Republic of Serbia. After some back and forth, I was able to arrange to purchase this seat. I had to pay upfront and wondered if he would actually ship me the seat and if the seat would look as good as in the picture when it arrived.

As it turned out, Bodzi shipped seat in a very timely fashion. In fact, via DHL air delivery, I had the seat in my office one week later. The look and quality of the seat was outstanding in every way. This seat is so captivating that it will become the graphic centerpiece of the motorcycle.

I was truly impressed with how Bodzi managed my transaction, as well as the exceptional quality of the seat he crafted. It made me think that maybe I could make arrangements for Dennis Kirk to sell his seats. So, I wrote Bodzi and let him know I was the President/CEO of Dennis Kirk and that we would be interested in selling his seats if we could work out an arrangement. Just a couple of back-and-forth emails and a deal was struck.

Dennis Kirk now carries four different seat designs by Bodzi. Check them out. Each design is exceptional in its own way, and you can place an order on denniskirk.com and as always, We’ll Ship it Today.

The Bodzi seats do not come with mounting hardware. Not to worry, Dennis Kirk sells a Drag Specialties seat mounting kit (part# 274451) that makes the installation of these types of seats quick and easy.

Here is what the seat looks like mocked up on the bike. I think it looks great! What do you think?
