Black Brand: New Motorcycle Gear with Attitude

Posted on 24 Mar 2016 in Powersports | 1 comment

Some might say that the market for cruiser riding gear has been getting a little stale recently, especially in the mid price range.  Sure there are some high fashion pieces available, but their price tags put them out of reach for most riders.  And a lot of the cheap gear is, well, cheap.  Now, there’s a new cruiser apparel company that’s looking to shake things up to provide gear for those who fall in the mid-line and crave something different.  Black Brand is hitting the market guns blazing and has been getting the attention of both riders and industry folk.  What makes them so exciting is that they have an attitude to attract attention fast and then they combine that with quality products built to last.

Black Brand

The apparel that Black Brand is creating may not be for everyone.  But that’s exactly how they want it to be.  The minds behind the apparel company saw a gap in the market for high quality gear priced in the mid-range.  They also saw a hole in the cruiser market for gear that stood out from the rest.  And they’re not shy about being different, either.  Especially with slogans like “Cuz no one else had the balls to,” “Be the wolf, not the sheep,” and “Something Bad Ass This Way Comes.”

Clever marketing is the first step to successfully launch a new company, but you still have to back it up with quality products.  By looking at the features that are included in every Black Brand jacket, you can see that they are doing just that by paying attention to the fine details.  All of their jackets use YKK zippers (the best in the biz), easily removable/installable liners, and riveted-on hanger straps that will not break from the weight of the jacket.  The jackets that have armor included use D3O armor, which is the most pliable and comfortable in the industry.  Plus, Black Brand backs up their jackets with some serious warranties.  A six year warranty for the leather options and three year on the textile jackets.

Black Brand Patch for TroopsAnother really cool thing about Black Brand has to do with their involvement with the Homes for Our Troops organization.  For every jacket, vest and pair of chaps that they sell, Black Brand will make a donation to Homes for Our Troops.  Each article of clothing is embroidered with a patch stating that by purchasing the gear, you helped support the cause.

For a new company, Black Brand’s initial lineup of gear is fairly stacked, with plenty of options to choose from for both men and women riders.  Their gear consists of both leather and textile jackets, vests, chaps and gloves.  As mentioned above, these products are targeted for the mid-line price range to provide affordable quality.

Below are some of the highlights from Black Brand’s initial lineup:

Women’s Sheared Beaver & Brazilian Waxed Jackets

Yup.  You read that correct.  As two of the premier jackets in the lineup, these two women’s jackets are exactly what Black Brand is all about.  They are both well-made pieces with attention grabbing styling and nomenclature.  The names refer to the addition of genuine sheered beaver fur on the cuffs and collar of the Sheared Beaver and, conversely, the lack of it on the Brazilian Waxed.  Both jackets are made with top-grain sheep leather for a smooth feel.  Each are uniquely embroidered with quilting and scrollwork and finished off with diamond shaped rivets to provide that eye catching style.  Zip gussets on the hips allow you to custom fit the jacket so that it won’t ride up while in the seated position.  They are the perfect jacket for the lady who wants to look good on and off of the bike.

Fahrenheit KoolTek Jacket

As possibly the most technical jacket, the Fahrenheit Kooltek has a lot of premium options for its affordable price tag.  The one feature that really stands out is the Kooltek, which is a process of treating the top grain leather to make it resistant to the heat of the sun.  On a sunny day, a Kooltek jacket will stay about 20 degrees cooler than the average leather jacket.  A perforated option is available for those even warmer rides.  Another technical addition is the D3O armor in the shoulders, elbows and back.  On the inside, you will also find the 37.5 moisture and odor wicking liner to help keep you cool and dry on those hot rides.

Ice Pick Perforated KoolTek Vest

For those who prefer vests, the Ice Pick takes into account vest wearers’ needs.  Like the Fahrenheit, this vest is also treated with KoolTek to keep you as cool as possible.  A nice touch is the inside zipper on the vest liner.  This allows you to add patches to the back of the vest without binding up the liner with the stitching.  The branding is kept very minimal with the only location being “Black Brand” embossed in the side straps.  This leaves you plenty of room to add your own tags or to just leave it murdered out black.  The Ice Pick vest also included two zippered pockets to keep all of your goodies safe while you’re riding.
