There’s a reason HJC motorcycle helmets are the number one helmet brand in North America. Since 1971, they have been creating high quality helmets that all riders can wear and afford. They span the powersport spectrum with helmets for people who ride motorcycles, off-road, and snowmobiles. HJC’s selection ranges from the mid range to the high end range. In their very own wind tunnel system, HJC is able to fine tune the aerodynamics and ventilation systems of their helmets. The finest series of HJC motorcycle helmets is the RPHA helmets, which are worn by champions in different racing disciplines.
When you’re a champion, you only wear the best. That is why 2-time Moto GP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and 3-time AMA Superbike Champion and 2009 WSBK Champion Ben Spies both wear the HJC RPHA 10. The shell of this helmet is made up of an Advanced P.I.M. (Premium Integrated Matrix) construction, which is a matrix of carbon fiber, aramid, fiberglass and organic non-woven fabric. The P.I.M. allows the helmet to be extremely lightweight without sacrificing shell strength and comfort.
The shield system really sets the RPHA 10 apart from other helmets. You can switch out your shield effortlessly fast with the RapidFire™ Shield Replacement System. The system is tool-less, which makes changing a shield on the fly that much simpler. The shields on these HJC helmets also feature the Pinlock® system. This allows the rider to snap in a smaller shield to the main shield to provide a color change. This also creates a double lens to help prevent your helmet from fogging. The main shield has HJC’s innovative center one-touch open and close system. By locking the shield down, a better seal is created to keep the air from coming in.
Venting on these HJC motorcycle helmets is extraordinary. On each intake vent, there are dials to adjust the helmet’s airflow to your liking. These dials were designed to be easily adjusted, even when the rider is wearing gloves. After hours upon hours of testing in HJC’s wind tunnel, they have developed the ACS (Advanced Channeling Ventilation System). This system creates a superb airflow that moves from front to back and flushes the heat and humidity up and out. The ACS also allows for the helmet to have a smoother airflow giving it less wind resistance with maximum ventilation.
It can get hot on the track and that is when the RPHA 10’s liner stands out. The SilverCool Plus™ interior is made out of a silver anti-bacterial fabric that will stay odor-free and wick moisture away. The interior is also made with Ginkgo Extract to give it an extremely soft feel. A helmet can have all the bells and whistles, but if it is not comfortable to wear, it will be passed over.
The RPHA 10 isn’t the only one of the HJC helmets worn by champions. The RPHA X is the motocross addition to the lineup. This helmet is worn by X-Games gold medalists Nate Adams and Matt Buyten. The X shares some key features with the 10, which include the P.I.M. shell construction, the ACS venting and the superior aerodynamics from the testing done in HJC’s wind tunnel. The RPHA X has some unique features of its own, though. The interior is made with the Cool4Ever system that is also moisture wicking and anti-microbial. This interior is made of an innovative new fabric that will cool down faster than other major fabrics. You will be able to stay cooler on those long and hot rides. The helmet also features a very large eyeport. This will not only allow the rider to have a greater field of vision, but the goggles will have a better seal to prevent air from escaping to the inside. The visor is made to be light and flexible for increased durability and rider comfort.
If you want all the benefits of the RPHA 10 but also want the conveniences of a modular, HJC has the RPHA MAX available as well. The RPHA helmets perfrom just as well if not better than some of the most expensive models, but don’t come with the hefty price tag. These HJC helmets are worn by champions because they perform like champions.
