Indian Motorcycle, the original American motorcycle company, was founded in 1901  and has won the hearts of many a motorcycle enthusiast over the past 100+ years.  With the excitement of the all new engine and bike on the horizon, Indian wanted to give its fans something to wet their appetite while they are waiting for the unveil later in 2013.

The app is called “Indian Rides” and is available free for Android and iOS smartphones. The new app reveals the sound of the, new from the ground up, motor. Open the app and there is a graphic of a motorcycle throttle and starter switch. Fire up the engine and turn your phone to landscape mode, and it becomes a working throttle, allowing the user to rev the motor up and down to get a real feel for what the new motor will sound like.

Also included with the app is the ability to display your current map location, look up current weather and any advisories that may be out for your area.  Find any Indian dealer near  your current location, save you favorite rides and even share them on Facebook or Twitter. Search for gas, lodging and restaurants with direct dialing is also available on the app. In case you really get out in the boonies, there is map caching  that will enable you to use the maps features even when out of cellular range.
