Who the Heck is Dennis Kirk? A Little History Behind the Name…

Posted on 19 Aug 2010 in Powersports | 5 comments

There’s been much speculation recently on our social networks as to the origins of Dennis Kirk (the company) and who was/is Dennis Kirk. Here’s a quick rundown to set the record straight…

Dennis (Kirk) Frandsen founded the company back in 1969. It began as “All American”, soon changing its name to Dennis Kirk to be more personable. The store began as a small shop in rural Rush City, Minnesota, selling Snowmobile parts. It quickly became an “on the way up north” stop for in and out-of-staters to get their machines ready for riding.

As the years progressed and the business grew, new lines were added, Metric and Harley Motorcycles, and ATVS& Dirt Bikes  making Dennis Kirk 41 years later, what it is today.

For the record, although he sold the company back in 1977, and is no longer associated with Dennis Kirk, Entrepreneur Dennis Frandsen is still actively involved in multiple business ventures today.

Have you been buying parts from Dennis Kirk since the company started back in 1969? Or do you remember the small snowmobile parts store where it all began, tell us your story in the comments below?

I am doing a college e-commerce project using Dennis Kirk as my business of choice. I looked up some facts about the history and have found it to be interesting. I shop Dennis Kirk pretty regularly and have noticed that they do a lot of online business, which is why I chose the company for my project. I would be interested in knowing more as my project goes on. Look for me to be contacting you with some questions. I think you guys are one of the best in the business and are extremely reliable. Thanks Dennis Kirk!
