Watch the diameter ... don't assume it will fit.
The descriptions of this tire as well as others fail to give you the diameter of the inflated tire. Customer service failed to have this information also. I bought, mounted, checked for clearance. When run to highway speed, the tire expanded, lock up against the swing arm, blew the tube, melted the tread and nearly took the bike off the road. Learn from my mistake, not all tires of the same size have the same diameter, ask before you buy. Not all “same size” tires are the same diameter!

Great tire from a limited perspective
I just ordered my second set of Avon tires from Dennis Kirk, this Safety Mileage II for the rear, and the Speedmaster AM6 ribbed tire for the front and. These are on my '64 Triumph TR6R. The reason I say I have a limited perspective is because I avoid rain with this old bike, so I cannot comment on wet weather performance of these tires. In all other aspects, I like them a lot! The first set gave 7,000 miles of good service and still had tread left. They had not weather checked at all over the past 6 years (from their manufacture date code). They have not cupped at all. I only replaced them because they would be seven years old if I ran them another season. They have made me smile every time I looked at them (I love the classic looking smooth sidewalls, that are also easy to clean; the cool, vintage tread pattern front and rear; the name Avon and the Made in England molded into the sidewall). It's impressive that they are still selling at the same price as the last set I bought in March, 2011. I have seen these tires priced much higher elsewhere and have never had a bad experience dealing with Dennis Kirk.
The Safety Mileage rear tire works well and looks good with the Avon Speedmaster ribbed front tire.
I run these on my 1964 Triumph TR6R.

Old school new rubber.
I build choppers and the weight distribution between front and rear tire is a little different than your normal motorsicle. The AVON old style tread was designed for lets say unimproved roads witch is very different from todays modern hi-ways.
The new rubber compounds they use nowadays are excellent for
grip in cornering and when spring gets here I will test them my self -- roll no bros.

Great tire at an even better price!
I have looked at getting this tire for my bike for a long time but every retailer in my area is selling the tire for almost $50 more. It was a great value buying from Denis Kirk.

Good sidecar tire
I have used this tire for the rear of my old bike on my sidecar rig. It works very well for that use.

What is the recommended tire pressures for a solo rider on a 1948 Harley BigmTwin?
Namor on Jul 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have used the MK II for over twenty five yrs. The tires are soft and require 30-32 lbs for a good wear pattern. I always rotate the front tire to the rear and install new on front. I get around 6,000 miles out of a tire on the rear, but the front is still like new.
Can you use this as a front tire also?
A shopper on Oct 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In truth it can be mounted to the front, but unfortunately there are different tread patterns and load indexes for front tires in comparison to rear tires which may make them perform in an unsafe manner. Dennis Kirk does not recommend placing rear designated tires on the front of a a motorcycle or vice versa.
