Tri-Compound Extrusion (TE) technology medium compound center tread with soft compound shoulders and a base that improves the bond between the tire compounds and tire carcass
Advance Variable Belt Density (A-VBD) rear tire construction uses a densely wrapped belt in the center of the tire for stability, wear and mileage; belt is less dense on the shoulders for a large, compliant contact patch
Super-Rich Silica (SRS) compound for fast warm-up and superior grip
Enhanced Aqua Flow (EAF) tread pattern for optimal water dispersal
Inverted Front Grooves (IFG) resists uneven wear and improves braking stability
Lifetime Profile Engineering (LPE) for consistent handling and stability for the life of the tire

This is my second set of tires from Avon and by far they are better than any other tire I have used. Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop, and Bridgestone do not have a comparable tire that feels as good as these on the road, will last nearly as long or have a warranty that surpasses Avon's.
These tires are simply the best....much better than the OEM garbage and definitely last longer, better grip and handling and high mileage is a definite plus . BTW you will not find a better price than on Denniskirk.com
This is my second 180/55 R17 Avon Storm 2 Ultra. Previously I used the Metzeler ME880. The Avon is confidence inspiring in all conditions and I especially like the profile which puts a lot of rubber on the road at my moderate lean angles. The tread doesn't wrap as far around the tire sidewall as other brands, which suits me. The dual compound becomes noticeable as the tire wears, creating a narrow, flat center with a rapid angle change transition to both sides. I think this contributes to the tire being more sensitive to road surface transitions at low speeds than some other brands, with the bike "rocking" side to side. This has only been noticeable as the tire gets well worn, though, and all tires do this to some extent. Mileage is good, at around 9,000 miles, but not quite as long lasting as the Metzeler. I'm willing to trade some life for the confident feeling I get with the Avon.
