Avon AV71 & AV72 Cobra Tires
  • Sidewalls feature a custom snakeskin treatment that compliments the Cobra logo and tread design
  • Advanced Variable Belt Density (A-VBD) construction uses a densely wrapped belt in the center of the tire for stability, wear and mileage
  • Belt is less dense on shoulder for a huge, compliant contact patch
  • Lifetime Profile Engineering (LPE) for consistent handling and stability for the life of the tire
  • Enhanced Aqua Flow (EAF) tread pattern for optimal water dispersal
  • Enhanced Stability System (ESS) design reduces tire flex for improved grip and stability

will this tire be OK to mount on a Honda Gold wing 1500 trike and not have any rim issues?
Richard H on Feb 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It appears the GL1500 uses the same size front tire as the GL1800 so I do not see any reason the AVON Cobra Trike tire will not give you the same benefits it has many GL1800 riders.
What is the width difference with dunlop elite 3 250/40/18?

BEST ANSWER: You'll find that the cobra looks and our side by side to the E3, but not by much. You'll also notice the cobra is more "domed" giving it an overall larger and sportier look. Handles a lot better too.

I have vtx 1300c Honda my tire size is 170/80/15 l would like to have a wide back tier do you guys have any type of tiers like that and how much does it cost? I want to go with the 200 wide.
Caifan on Feb 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you have enough room than the avon tires are what I prefer. Never have I had a problem with traction in wet weather. If you use the wheel you have now then it will make the tire taller and tend to wear down the center faster. Don't swear by it but I'm thinking you might need to go with a 6 in. wheel.

How wide is the whitewall on this tire?
A shopper on Apr 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Very. It covers nearly the entire sidewall. It definitely is not a thin stripe. Put a pair on my Heritage and I think they look pretty spiffy. Steve
Will this tire fit my 2005 swift tormentor chopper ?
A shopper on Apr 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: First what size tire, is on your rear now? And whats the width of your rear rim? Because you need a 10" wide rear rim, for a 300mm rear tire. And beside those facts, next would be what's the inner width between your swing arm? So without knowing these important measurements I cant tell you! Now if you have a 8.5" wide rear rim, and you want the fattest rear tire go with a Dunlap elite three 250! Yet with that said you could run a Metzler to 260, however the Dunny 250 is wider! Do to the Metz being more rounded, and the dunny is more on the flatter side thus being wider. Now the Metz will hit corners better, but if your on a chopper, your a straight line runner! So I'd go dunny E 250.
I have a 2012 Honda Fury, stock rear tire is 200/50/18, Avon offers 200/55/18. Will this be ok?
Dan T on Mar 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That shouldn't be a problem at all. Basically, the 50 & 55, references the percentage of the 200MM, in height. So, it will be 5% taller than your stock tire. 5% of 200mm, equates to 10mm. 10mm is less than 1/2 Inch. 25.4mm = 1 inch..

I hope this helped.

Will this tire fit my 1981 XLH 1000cc?
A shopper on Jan 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: not sure if the tire is stock size. I do know that my 01 sportster custom takes that size tire. I get good life from it. 10 to12k rear double for front runners. traction in dry conditions is unrivaled for rear tire. love this tire for light bikes.
Does this tire fits my boulevard m109r?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The stock size for an M109 is a 240/40-18 size. This tire will not fit.

Dennis Kirk recommends replacing tires with the tire size recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer. Varying sizes may cause issues with performance, load index, and safety. Any tire varying from that recommended size is a consumer decision and may or may not properly fit on the machine due to hardware issues.
Do I need a tube if I have spokes?
Timm m M on May 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am no tire expert but this is a meant to be a tubeless tire. I suggest contacting your local bike shop for verification. This is a great tire by the way. I have tried them all and until something better comes along, this is my go to tire for my 2001 Valkyrie Interstate
What does the H stand for?
BILL B on Nov 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Don't know but I LOVE the tire. Love the grip and I'm getting 18k+ life average from the last two on my 99 FLH.
What kind of manufacture dates are on these? My local shop won't install if they are too old.
Denise O on Aug 23, 2016

In checking the 6 in stock tires we have for SKU #54-3348, they all fall under 4615 or 4915, which means they were produced in the 46th and 49th weeks of 2015, so November December. They are less than on year post manufacturing.
What dose hb stand for ?
Doug N on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: "H" stands for speed rating. Max speed is 130 mph. "B" stands for belted. Meaning that's the construction of the tire.
Will this replace a 90/90/21 Avon roadrunner? I just bought this tire and am being told the tire is small, the old tire is the 90/90/21 -roadrunner. Does this sound right?
Timm m M on May 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I put it on my chopper and couldn't be more pleased. I'm not sure of your rim width but the M90 is a little bit narrower. I used up an entire rear and the front is still perfect.

I have a 230/60 15 tire on right now. Will a 240/50 16 fit on my same rim?
Dan A on Mar 8, 2019

Watch that pressure!
I've about 4000 miles in this and the front and so far, so good. However....after talking to a Cobra rep. at a bike show I find out I've been running my tires under inflated even though I've been running them 2 lbs under max per the sidewall! Seems load determines inflation as per the table on the website. Seems I need to be running 48 psi in the front and 50 psi in the rear! So,words to the wise.......regardless of manufacturer, check the load/inflation table for your manufacturer, you may be doing it wrong! If not for the Cobra rep., I'm sure these tires would have worn out prematurely. Makes me wonder if the Dunlops I had before these would have lasted longer if I had known this! Thanks to Cobra for smart reps and great tires!

Avon Cobra...Great Tire
The Avon Cobra rear tire is excellent. It's performance is indistinguishable from the Michelin Commander II, but it's life is about 50% greater. The Avon provides improved handling over the Metzler 880 in all conditions and much better life. I found the Commander II to handle as well as the Avon, but it's life was similar to the Metzler.

killer tire
These tires are a little softer compound so they really perform amazingly. However the only draw back is if your used to getting 10K Out of a tire, expect to get 8K with these. I feel the faster wear is worth the improved handling and stability.

Superior Tire
This tire is far superior to the OEM Dunlop, and a little better than the Dunlop E3, and the Metz Marathon. I have ridden on all four, have an M109, and commute several days a week. Handling and control is second to none. It is very hard to get this tire to break loose. Wear is OK, as I need another at 8,000. But I only got that or less on the other tires, as well. I will purchase again. If this tire is in your sights, pull the trigger. You will not regret it.

Great Tires
I swear by the Avon Tire line. I've used them for many years on the older BMWs and now have one on my Suzuki M109R2.
The factory rear wore out at 5K. I already have that on this Avon and there is very little tire wear. The tire gives a softer ride and better handling with a great grip. Great performance tire!

great service, great tire!
thanks to all the guys at that have gone from the stock 210/40x18 tire and reported that the 240 works a whole lot better (and the Cobra seems to be the most popular) I gave it a try and man my 09 Yamaha Raider handles and looks even better. I did take advantage of Kirk's beat it by a dollar just so I could buy from here, glad I did so I could get the good service. thanks

Fits the Yamaha Raider
I ordered this tire for my '09 Yamaha Raider and I'm glad I did. Shipping took just a few days which surprised me... great job, DK. The 250 is about as big as you can go on a stock Raider wheel, but this tire fits within the swingarm just fine with no rubbing. Riding two up hasn't caused any rubbing, either.

I have not lowered my bike in the rear, so I can't say that there are any clearance issues... but it's always good to check. If your bike has been lowered, make sure you look at the bolts that come in from the side that hold the rear fender in place... they may need to be trimmed down. Otherwise, just install the tire and ride.

The tire is nice and round on the stock wheel, which seems to help in cornering. The tire feels softer and has more grip than the stock Metz 210 did, and the tread depth is deep.

Overall, it was a great tire at a good price, and I will be buying this tire again when this one eventually wears out.

Wow great tire !! This is my first set of Avon tires but it will not be the last. My VRSCDX can't resit laying down and throttling up in the corners. I don't know what the milage will be but I will trade off some milage for good handling anytime.
