At first glance the Arlen Ness mini oval mirror appears to be a triumph of form over function and if the bike I recently purchased had different mirrors and wasn't missing it's left side Ness mini oval I probably wouldn't be writing this review. But I was pleasantly surprised , Though not immediately. Originally the mirrors were mounted above the bars and when I received my left side replacement mirror from Dennis Kirk I followed suit and mounted the mirror above the bars. they looked great but the performance left something to be desired as they reflected more of my gloves than the road behind me. Then I switched their position and mounted the mirrors below the bars and in my opinion that's where the Ness mini ovals really shine. Not only do they look better from a styling standpoint they actually work and work quite well. Their view is unobstructed and once properly positioned they reveal all the essential information with a quick glance. As I said when I began, the mini ovals would not have been my first choice, but after a second look I wouldn't choose any other mirrors, they're the perfect compliment to this particular bike and function as good as they look.
I was worried about how small they are. The do need to be adjusted perfectly to get the full range of viewing, but the convex mirror makes this possible. They don't get bumped like larger ones so they stay adjusted better. There are tightening screws to adjust how tight the adjustment stays. They don't stick out the side of the fairing so they are protected. Very good looking on the bike (Street Glide). Lots of comments on how nice they are and I really like them.
