I have a 1985 wideglide and looking at the 80-1005 starter. My starter has two thru bolts that mount it, how does this starter attach to the mounting plate?

BEST ANSWER: I have a 188 Low Rider, and it mounts also with 2 through bolts, and that is exactly what this hi-torque starter has. I love mine, looks great, turns over easy.
will this starter work on a 1977 sportster?

Great Starter
I bought this starter to replace my original one. The install was easy. The fit was perfect. Took about an hour to complete the job. This starter is plenty powerful to spin the motor over with ease. They recomend a 300 plus cca battery and 4 gage cables. I have the 300 plus cca battery but have not changed the cables yet and no problems at all! Well worth the money!

Great upgrade
Put this starter on my 82 FLH, sure lives up to it's name. Using a 390 CCA AGM battery. Starts instantly even in 30* weather.

Wow!
I replaced the transmission in my 1984 FXST. While I had it all apart, I decided to replace the OEM Hitachi starter motor.
The Hitachi never failed me but, it had me worried on occasion!
The All-Balls appealed to me because:
a) almost TWICE the horsepower as the OEM motor;
b) I could eliminate the rear support bracket - which wouldn't work with the new transmission.

WOW! That All-Balls surprised me, the first time I mashed the start button! It turns that EVO over with authority!
All-Balls Hitachi replacement starter motor installed on 1984 FXST.
All-Balls nose/bearing cap installed on 1984 FXST starter gear housing.
