S&S Intelligent Spark Technology (IST) Ignition Module 201572: Manufacturer part # 551221 - The S&S Intelligent Spark Technology ECU module automatically adjusts ignition timing. When detonation is detected by the exclusive knock sensor, the ECU retards the ignition timing to prevent engine damage. When detonation is not present, ignition timing is advanced for maximum power and economy. The system remembers the conditions that cause the engine to knock and automatically adjusts ignition timing to prevent it when those conditions reoccur. When conditions allow for increased ignition timing, the system will advance timing as far as possible without causing the engine to knock. In effect, the system learns the ignition requirements of a particular engine and writes a custom ignition map for it even if you change cams, air cleaner, exhaust or displacement. Module requires an installation kit that must be purchased separately Twin Cam 04-06 - Part No. 201573 XL 04-06 - Part No. 212598 . Optional high-output coil also available: designed for the S&S Variable Fuel Injection System, the single-fire coil is actually two separate coils in a single package; coil impedance 3 ohm per coil (#20-1078 sold separately).
